Publicist
Born and raised in Bridgeport, CT. Earned a
Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Communication
from Clark Atlanta University. Has taken
writing workshops at Fredrick Douglas Art Center
and The New School of New York.
As an independent publicist with over a decade
of experience, he's known for getting high-end
press on low-end budgets. His love affair with
the media has afforded him top rate placement
locally and nationally in both the electronic
media and printed press.
As a consultant, he has worked with a variety of
artists and celebrities including Morris
Chestnut, John Salley, Michael Michelle and
Ananda Lewis. From 1993 to 1999, he headed up
the press campaigns for HARLEM WEEK (a multi
cultural street fair, which takes place during
the month of August in New York City), as well
as helped launch Harlem Jazz & Music
Festival the summer of 1998. He currently
oversees press and marketing efforts for 1016
Films, Inc. - a Harlem based Black and Latino
production company dedicated to celebrating and
bringing to the screen positive images of the
Afro Latino Diaspora.
Besides being a publicist, he's worked as a
coordinator in numerous division within the
music industry including marketing, artist
development, A&R, promotions as well as
worked closely with Island Black Music President
Hiriam Hicks, helping launch the career of
R&B group Dru Hill, re-introduction of The
Isley Brothers, Uncle Luke and others.
While at RCA Records, he helped set up the
company's Urban Music division and later was
promoted to Marketing Coordinator helping set
launch the careers of Chantay Savage, SWV,
Venessa Ruben, Rome and others.
At the Balm In Gilead - an International
organization dedicated to empowering Churches to
address HIV/AIDS in the Black community, he was
responsible for launching national press
campaigns for the organization, its staff and
its numerous events and programs. This
included The Black Church Week of Prayer for the
Healing of AIDS, The Black Church HIV/AIDS
Training Institute in Tuskegee, AL and The Black
Church Speaks! AIDS: A National Emergency in the
African American Community.
In addition to the above, he single handedly
established The Balm In Gilead's Annual World
AIDS Day Art Exhibit. The event received a
mayoral citation and letter of commendation from
NBC News. While on staff, the
organization's visibility increased from less
then 10 thousand impressions to over 200 million
in less then a year. The impressive media
coverage was used as leverage to secure
substantial amount of funding from several top
pharmaceutical companies.
Hard work finally paid off in 2000, when he
re-joined the RCA Records family and was later
promoted to Manager of Urban Publicity.
Although he doubled as the department's
administrator, his commitment to his craft took
full flight as he helped launch press campaigns
for - Tyrese, Coko, Cherokee, Public
Announcement, Dante, CED, Smash Task as well as
headed up all tour and on-line press within the
budgeted fiscal structure.
Publicity is his passion and when one chooses a
